Søren Hove Ravn wins DFI Dissemination Award

AWARD

Many Danes will recognise Søren Hove Ravn's face, words and voice: Søren has a monthly column in Altinget and is often quoted in the Danish media for his knowledge of macroeconomics. And that is why he is now receiving the DFI Dissemination Award 2023.

Søren Hove Ravn

The Danish Finance Institute held its annual conference on 12 October and used the occasion to announce this year's winner of the Dissemination Prize 2023: Søren Hove Ravn, Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen and DFI Fellow.

Niels Arne Dam, chairman of the award committee, explained the choice:

- "One of DFI's ultimate goals is to strengthen the overall quality of the entire financial community in Denmark - as we firmly believe that everyone benefits when financial research at Danish universities is conducted at the highest possible level.

To emphasise the importance of researchers bringing their findings to the wider public debate, DFI awards a prize every two years to a researcher who has "made a significant contribution to the public debate or otherwise excelled in disseminating research to a wider audience".

In addition, the recipient should preferably have communicated financial arguments and a better understanding of finance in the public debate in a factual, competent and educational manner".

Committed disseminator

Søren received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Copenhagen in 2013 and was employed in the research department at Danmarks Nationalbank until the following year, when he rejoined the Department of Economics as an assistant professor and was awarded tenure in 2019.

His research covers a range of topics within - and sometimes beyond - the field of macroeconomics, including a number of articles published in internationally renowned journals.

Søren is not only well-published in academia, but also a committed public disseminator. He writes a monthly column for Altinget - a magazine well known to Danish ministries and other government bodies - and shares his knowledge and views on social media.

He is a frequently quoted expert in the Danish written media on a range of topics within macro-finance and macroeconomics. And you may have seen his face and heard his voice on TV and radio.
